Disaster in Lightningclan: CRACK

WARNNING SAD STORRYYY!!!

CRACK

    Littlestar woke up and noticed a difference in the sound of the cave he couldn't hear the waterfall. He poked his head out of his den and was amazed to see giant icicles hanging from the ledge of the camps wall, the pool in camp was frozen over as well. Nearly all of the clan was playing on or around the ice. Littlestar smiled happy to see the clan was enjoying the new addition to camp, but wondered for a second if it was safe, he shook the thought away there were full grown warriors on there if the ice was going to break it would have by now. The queens were all keeping their kits away from the Ice not as trusting of the seemingly thin layer of ice above the water. Littlestar padded down to the clearing and surveyed the camp "I need to send some of these cats onto patrol" he thought noticing the less than ample prey supply and clear sunny day good for hunting.  Then…CRACK!!!! A loud and heart dropping noise sounded. Littlestar felt like he was moving in slow motion as he saw what was about to happen.

    “OFF THE ICE!!” some cat yelled seconds to late as a cascade of icicles crashed into the cats below crushing whatever they landed on including the layer of ice on the pool.

   Then time began to speed up as Yowls of distress rang around the camp. The kits were shuffled into the nursery and the queens ran to help who they could. Littlestar watched in horror at the cats flailing in the freezing water, he shook himself and went to action. He ran to aid those he could reach, yanking at sodden scruffs and hauling out heavy bodies from the water. Then biting back fear, checking his reason and fighting the pain that the cold water was causing, he jumped into the pool dragging more of his clan mates from the icy water. 

    Pulling at the cold scruff of a clan mate Littlestar could not identify he padded up onto the shore. Just before jumping back in a sick rumbling creaking noise began to fill the clan’s ears. A gut churning silence spread over the clan as a second of pure dread seeped into every cats bones. The waterfall started to run again.

    The waters strong current pushed many of the cats still trapped in the pool under the water.  Littlestars own limbs were beginning to burn and numb at the same time; he wasn't sure how much longer he could be in the water without drowning himself, but he plunged in dragging out several more cats with him. Littlestar kept returning to the water, regardless of how his body refused to listen, until finally it seemed that every cat was free from the icy water.  Littlestar wobbled from the water his teeth chattering, but satisfied before collapsing himself from the cold.

    What might have been minutes or hours later Littlestar woke in the medicine den surrounded by a few others, his limbs were stiff, but he didn't pay much mind to that. He got up and walked into a camp filled with distraught, wails and sobs were running freely through the camp. Many of the cats under the cascade of icicles had been in the water too long the shock and hypothermia too much for them to handle. Others had been badly hit by the icy spikes and never even felt the cold water. Luckily the survivors seemed to be okay except for being cold and their nerves rocked. 

    Littlestar could barely believe what had happened he was checking on every cat he could, and staring blankly at the line of cats that would not be seeing the Newleaf. He shivered, and shook out his pelt, a new rule would be implemented in the clan, no playing on the frozen pond…. Ever.... again.
