Twilightheart padded long the LeafClan border her patrol close behind remarking the scents. Twilight heart opened her mouth scenting the air and was a bit shocked to receive a very strong and fresh gush of LeafClan scent.

“Everyone stop for a second” she whispered scenting the air once again and pricking her ears, she could hear distant voices along the border, but with a few slopes and the LeafClan forest blocking the view she couldn’t see anyone.

“Smells like a patrol might be close” Lillypaw mewed her chest puffing reasoning that that was why the scents were so strong.

Fallensun hushed his apprentice with a quick flick of his tail, “That is a good observation, but it smells like there are many more cats than a patrol would normally have… You don’t think it’s an invasion Twilightheart?” He ventured not sure what else could have created such a strong scent.

“I don’t think so the scents don’t seem to be on our side, only thing to do is keep going and see what we find.” Twilightheart said calmly, she hadn’t missed the undertones of fear-scent mixed in with the leaf cats, she was almost certain this wasn’t an attack party.

As they moved on She turned to check on the quiet pair of cats in the patrol, “What do you make of this Nightlight?”

“I’m not sure Twilightheart but I can hear scattered voices… I don’t think it’s an attack.” Nightlight said with an edge of worry to his voice. As the cats reached the rise of the next hill they were greeted by a shocking sight, it looked as if half of leafclan was gathered below them, all along the leafclan side of the border.

“It looks like there are kits with them!” Mudpaw said concern clear in his voice, “Why do they have kits with them?” He looked to his mentor and then to his mother Twilightheart.

Scanning the crowd a distinct flame orange pelt caught Twilightheart’s attention, “I guess it’s time for us to find out” Without another word the patrol bounded towards the border many of the leafclan cats got to their paws surprised by the sudden appearance of the patrol. Sparklestar padded towards the border to meet the LightningClan cats.

Twilighthert dipped her head to the leader, “ Sparklestar, what brings you and your clan to our borders, we noticed kits with you … is everything alright?”

The Orange leader gazed at the LightningClan deputy with tired eyes and dipped her head in return “Greetings Twilightheart. Twolegs have come to LeafClan and our camp has been taken, we have come to seek refuge with your clan; Half of my cats have left to SeaClan in hopes we will not be as much of a burden this way.”

Twilightheart was speechless for a second, but regained her composure quickly, “We would be glad to house you I only hope that you will all be alright it is a bit of a walk from here to camp. She turned to her patrol, Nightlight take mudpaw with you and let the clan know we are going to be coming back with quite a few visitors, if Littlestar is there let him know that we might want to send out a few extra hunting patrols. Mudpaw you get the apprentices together and start collecting extra bedding for our guests now you two go” As the two cats ran back to camp she refocused on the displaced clan in front of her, and nodded to the leader, “Cat’s of LeafClan we welcome you to stay with us in your time of need please stay close, we will need to navigate some tunnels to get to the camp, I don’t want to loose any cats along the way.”

With that she turned and padded towards the nearest tunnel entrance, “ Fallensun you and Lillypaw take up the rear help any cats that need it please, and Fallensun you are to be the last cat into the tunnels.” her clan mates rounded the leafclan cats to take up the rear, Twilightheart breathed a nervous sigh hopefully the clan wouldn’t react badly to so many cats in the camp.
